Electric Service Technician

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform electric equipment installations and commissioning's at client locations as 2nd support electrician
  • Perform electric preventative maintenance on installed equipment at client locations as required
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems on machine control equipment and determine proper solutions
  • Manage and support electric on site installation, repair, maintenance and test tasks
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports and document processes
  • Cooperate with technical and sales teams and share information across the organization
  • Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations / briefings
  • Build positive relationship with customers


 Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience in Related Field, Skills, etc.):

  • Trouble-Shooter for First-Level Support (Electric Hotline and field support in the US)
  • Electric service jobs and trouble shooting at customer side
  • Wiring diagram knowledge for hardware troubleshooting -> electrical wiring
  • Experience with machine controls Siemens S 5 / S 7 / Tia or Schneider
  • Servo-Drive technology preferred Schneider: Elau, Pac Drive M or Pac Drive 3
  • Analytical approach and diagnostics with Laptop
  • Base knowledge on Profi-Bus and Profi-Net failure diagnostics
  • Proven field service experience with focus machine control
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed • Excellent electric trouble shooting and diagnostic skills
  • Able to read and interpret machine schematics
  • Valid U.S. driver's license

Preferred Qualifications (Certificates, Training, Licenses, and Experience):

  • Electric knowledge and background with industrial equipment
  • English and/or German language skills

Other (Supervisory Responsibility, Physical Demands, Travel): 

  • This position requires extensive overnight travel, usually Monday thru Friday and some weekends required
  • Anticipated Amount of Travel: 95%, weekly, domestic and international, mainly NAFTA area and occasionally to Germany / Europe
  • Daily overtime and weekend work required on a regular, as-needed basis
  • Bends, stoops and crouches on a regular basis to repair or make adjustments on machinery
  • Must be able to frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs with or without the assistance of crane operation
  • This position has no supervisory responsibility
